Allow me to reintroduce myself...

Aaahhh has it REALLY been 4 months? I'm officially theeeee worst ;-( Trust me when I say life has been super CRAY CRAY! Between co-owning a small biz and 40hrs at my grown up job...I can barely keep my eyes open. Siiigggghhh lo siento (that's I'm sorry in Espanol lol). So I won't promise (again) that I'll write 5x/week, but I do promise to warn you before I take another random hiatus...*besos* Ok, lets see here what do I need to catch you up on...

Jamaica Carnival (April) - Per usual, I had to hit the streets of Kingston for Bacchanal! Annual fun with the fam and friends:

NY(April)- Super quick trip to the #ConcreteJungle for my sister from another mister's baby shower! I love Amanda and her Hubz to pieces, I wouldn't miss this special event for anything...can't wait to meet baby Mazza! The wee one is done baking and should be here any day now! Also, you know it wouldn't be right if I didn't cram a million things into a tight trip, so I had to take a little time out to see some of my fave gal pals:

Coming up in T-18 is my mini world tour pre-Dirty30 birthday trip...whew! First stop is Toronto for my family reunion then I'll bounce over to Rome, Italy where I'll meet up with my girls - Laurian, Rozilin and Ciscely. From Rome, we head to Naples/Capri for a little yacht life and Neapolitan ice cream...duh! We'll end the Europe jaunt in Paris, where I hope to do nothing but drink champagne, eat macaroons and take in some awesome art and culture!

Here's to the kickoff of a great summer *pops bottle*

Tales from TheGlamtrak: Francine Bethune, Blue Ridge

If you're looking for a fun local trip with friends...renting a cabin is a good look! Check out my girl Francine's recent winter getaway....

I am a warm blooded chick and being from the warm island of Jamaica, I usually prefer to vacation in warmer climates.  But this time I decided to venture to the North Georgia Mountains of Blue Ridge in the middle of winter to celebrate my birthday. Selecting a cabin in Blue Ridge is a daunting task as there are tons of cabins to choose from and each one has different features. So after months of research I selected a cabin called Aska Adventure Lodge located in the Aska Adventure area of Blue Ridge. I liked this cabin as it featured mountain views, wrap around outdoor porch with fireplace, fire pit, 3 levels, flat screen TV’s, pool tables, games and 9 person hot tub.

So on Feb 1st, a few friends and I ventured to the mountains to the cabin for the weekend. The drive from Atlanta city was only an hour and a half, not bad for a weekend getaway.  The area was very rural and the closer we got to the cabins, the roads were winding and narrow.  It felt like an adventure, it was exciting, it was something new. The cabin was very rustic, very quaint but comfortable.  I felt like I was really in the country, we saw cows, horses but no bears. The views of the mountains were calming and it felt different than any part of Georgia I was used to.  As soon as we got in, we lit the fireplace to warm up as the cabin was a bit cold. I brought plenty of food, wine and rum punch so that we would not need to have to leave and find a store.  Later that night in 30 degree weather I decided to try out the hot tub. Once you are in, it is warm and nice; you don’t even feel the cold. Getting out is a challenge, the good thing is that the door was close by. The next day we got up excited to hit some walking trails and check out the village life but to our surprise it started to snow. After hearing that some of our neighbors could not drive up the hill due to the snow we decided to stay put. What else better to do in the snow but have a SNOW FIGHT! We also made a make shift sled out of a foil pan cover and slid down the hill in the backyard.

Later on, we all chipped in and made a big dinner that night, even bbqed some chicken outside. We used the outdoor fireplace to make smores for dessert, yum... We ate, drank, and drank, talked, watched movies, danced, laughed a lot, played games and ended the night back in the hot tub. It is a great time to spend with friends. It was like a big slumber party.  Cabins of course are great for romantic getaways as well. My only regret is that we did not see any bears, we did see some strange foot prints in the snow which could have been a mountain lion, yikes. Next time, I will go back in warmer weather, maybe get a river view cabin.

Soooo I just finished my annual travel budget template...I'll spare you the gory deets on how much of my income I'm willing to allocate to travel. Hey, don't judge me...some people love expensive shoes...I love to travel ;-) So this is my 2013 travel schedule, but trust me I'll be revising  a few times because I just don't have the vacay days to support this much jaunting...blegh

Buenos Aires, Argentina- it's been a few years since I've touched down in my FAVORITE city...I've never been during Spring/Summer and I can only imagine how gorge the city is in the sun!

Girlfriend Getaway: Europe - I'm celebrating a milestone birthday this summer and what better way to celebrate than to hit Europe with my, French men, history, Italian men, yummy food and great booze!

London - I looooooveeeeee London and all of its offerings (family, fashion, accents) - FOOD IS NOT ONE OF THEM ;-) This trip will be all about my uncle's 50th bday and hopefully I can squeeze in a pro football match (REAL FOOTBALL).

LeftCoast - * I'm going going, back back, to Cali Cali * it's been eons since I've taken a trip to the West Side and I think it's time for me to sprinkle some of my fast talking, quick walking, cynical BrookLanta humor on the Califoniaaannnnssss. I would love to hit San Diego (yes, I've been saying this for years), but minimally I need to visit my prima in LaLaLand.

TDot - My family reunion is in Toronto (pronounced Tronno) this summer!!! Yup, the secret is out...I was born into a tribe of NOMADS!

New Yawwwkkk - *Start spreading the news * What's a year without touching my other home base :-)

I'm in Miami B*tch! (nope, that never gets old) - A quick 90 minute flight and I'm enjoying most of the perks of island life! As much as I try to deny it...I really do love Miami for all its classy ratchetness and  nouveau riche!
Jamaica - Well of course you knooooww I have to get my carnival fix, beach fix, family fix and most importantly RUM fix...#priorities, who needs 'em

Doesn't look like I'll be squeezing in any new destinations this year (I barely know how I'm squeezing in the existing list)...but in the event that I win the lotto...I would love to add San Andres - Columbia, Split- Croatia and Baku- Azerbaijan to my list #ImJustSayin
Stay tuned for my posts on how I prepare for these trips - the farewatching, the hotel picking, the packing, the's sure to be a beautiful mess!
